About Trail Life

Unlike civic scouting programs, Trail Life is Christ-centered. Every troop is a ministry of a church or Christian school. Founded in 1961, Troop AL-0254 is a ministry of Briarwood Presbyterian Church in Vestavia Hills, Alabama. All leaders are church-approved and must agree to the Trail Life Statements of Faith and Values.

Every topic we cover and everything we do has a Biblical basis. If we're learning how to build campfires, we'll also discuss how God used fire in the Bible, like Moses and the Burning Bush, the Pillar of Fire that guided the Israelites through the wilderness at night, or the Tongues of Fire in Acts.
