State Rifle Competition July 26!
Trailmen from six central Alabama troops competed in events including archery, bridge building, encampment inspections, first aid, litter carries, tank maneuvers, intel recon, and an infantry obstacle course; participated in a hands-on demonstration of musket ball casting, and entertained each other at a "USO Show" for their military-themed Fall Fellowship campout.
Troop AL-254 was by far the largest troop there. We've been blessed with a lot of new Trailmen this year!
Our Navigators built our campsite gateway which featured illuminated US and Troop flags.
The event had a military history theme and featured a GMC CCKW 2½-ton 6×6 truck known as a "Deuce and a Half" and a 1945 Ford GWP jeep. Troopmaster Brad loved the jeep and got to drive it on Sunday.
Trailmen learned about one of the first human weapons of war - bows and arrows!
Trailmen got to make musket balls like soldiers did in the Revolutionary and Civil Wars.
Trailmen had to dodge enemy fire and throw grenades to neutralize a threat.
Trailmen had to use problem-solving and teamwork to build a bridge that would support their weight and allow them to cross a ravine.
Trailmen proudly waved the troop flag and yelled the troop chant as they harvested bamboo and built a make-shift shelter.
Troops told stories and performed skits for our Saturday night entertainment.
Freedom Rangeman KC read scripture before Mountain Lion Trail Guide Brannan delivered a sermon about what it truly means to WALK WORTHY.
Trailmen had a great time hanging out with their dad.
Without Fellowship, it would just be a fall campout. We were honored to welcome former AL-254 Troopmasters Blane and Scott to Saturday dinner, and the boys forged new friendships.
