Are there awards?

Yes. Boys earn awards by learning skills, serving others, growing in their faith, and participating in adventures.

Trail Life uses age-appropriate advancement to encourage boys as they grow.

Younger Trailmen earn awards primarily by participating in activities and trying new things. As boys get older, advancement shifts toward demonstrating proficiency, mastering outdoor skills, serving others, and taking on increasing leadership responsibilities.

Older boys may also earn Trail Badges in dozens of areas ranging from first aid and wilderness survival to engineering, communications, and theology.

While advancement is an important part of Trail Life, it isn't our primary goal. We want boys to grow in character, leadership, outdoor skills, and faith. Awards simply recognize that growth along the way.
